Below, you will find the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We do not have a store location. We come to you and work in your home, lighting and surroundings. I work mostly in the Morris County area, but since I live in southern Morris County, I often work in Union and Somerset Counties as well.

Q: Do I have to take off work in order to work with an interior decorator?

A: Not necessarily. I do have appointments available on Saturday mornings. In the summer, I have evening appointments available. Color requires daylight, so we have more time available on Summer evenings.

Q: How does Decorating Den Interiors work?

A: We work like a store that comes to you. We meet in your home so that I can get a true feel for you and the space we’ll be creating. Rooms and colors look different depending on the lighting so it is important to understand the environment of the space.

Q: How can you offer design services?

A: Since we work more like a store, and offer products at a retail price, it allows us to include our services and design time in the price of our products.

Q: What happens on my first appointment?

A: Our first appointment is our chance to get to know each other. We will talk about your project, list everything you’d like to accomplish and establish an investment level for the project.

Q: How do I determine the investment level for my project?

A: Often times, my clients have no idea what the investment level should be for their project size. After we list what is to be included in the project, I can suggest an investment level.

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum project size?

A: No minimum! I have done projects as small as bathroom wallpaper and as large whole house projects/new construction.

Q: Will you work with my existing pieces/furnishings that are in the room?

A: I would prefer to work with some existing pieces or treasures. Sometimes it is harder to “start from scratch”. It is often harder to get a sense of my clients’ taste when the room or house is empty.

Q: Do you shop with me in other stores?

A: I don’t shop in stores with clients. Because our product library is so diverse, it makes it very easy to have just about everything needed to complete a room.

Q: What’s the timeframe to get everything in?

A: Depending on the project, things could take two to twelve weeks. Something simple like wallpaper arrives very quickly. Some upholstered furniture takes many weeks to be custom crafted.

Q: Is it returnable?

A: For the most part, no, custom products are not returnable. I have had a few small issues over the years, for which I handle on an individual basis.

Q: Can I get a plan and shop retail?

A: Although I prefer not to, I can work hourly to produce a floorplan with furniture sizes.
